OB/GYN Residency Program

Nikita Sood, MD (She/Her)

Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine

Biography

Why did you choose WIH/Brown OB/GYN?

I was immediately drawn to WIH/Brown because of its focus on advocacy and community work. In medical school, I was really involved with organized medicine and other advocacy initiatives so finding a residency program that similarly prioritized that work was important to me. On top of that, during the interview process it was so clear how much the residents loved the program and each other that I knew I would find my people here at WIH/Brown!

What are your interests within OB/GYN?

Pediatric/Adolescent Gynecology, Advocacy/policy

What is your favorite thing to do in Providence and/or Rhode Island?

Going to the beach! I grew up mostly in the Midwest so being near an oceanfront beach is a brand new experience--I'm trying to take as much advantage of it as possible.

Where do you live?

Fox Point (East Side of Providence)

One fun fact about you:

I was born in the UK and have dual citizenship

One piece of advice for candidates:

Make sure to interview programs as much as they are interviewing you! As applicants, it's easy to focus so much on making a good impression that we forget how important it is to deep dive into what we like and dislike about the programs too. The application process should just as much be about figuring out where you truly want to be. Don't be afraid to ask questions, talk to residents, and really reflect on what you're really looking for in a program.
