Mission Statement

The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is dedicated to improving the lives of the diverse individuals, families, and communities in Southern New England while serving as a role model nationally and internationally.

Our vision is to be the premier Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, recognized for excellence, equity, cultural competence and quality in all aspects of our work including comprehensive patient care, research, education, innovation and leadership.

We proudly serve our local Providence and Rhode Island community, and as a referral center for patients from Southeastern Massachusetts to Connecticut. We are privileged to care for many groups of immigrants and refugees, with large communities from Cambodia, Cape Verde, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Liberia, Nepal, Syria, and Somalia; over 40% of Providence identifies as Hispanic/Latino. Nearly one in three Providence households speaks a language other than English, most commonly Spanish, Portuguese and Haitian Creole.
