OB/GYN Residency Program

Biography

Why did you choose WIH/Brown OB/GYN?

I chose Brown Ob/Gyn because I instantly felt connected to the program's culture, which centers diversity, wellness, and creating a supportive and nurturing learning environment. I was fortunate enough to participate in a virtual elective before applications were due as well. I spoke to multiple residents here who helped me see how they supported one another, what their day-to-day looked like, and how they interacted with faculty.

What are your interests within OB/GYN?

I am still pretty "undifferentiated" and could see myself going in a number of directions. My research background during medical school was in gynecologic oncology, but I love all aspects of Ob/Gyn, especially the labor floor. I hope to gain experience conducting more qualitative and mixed-methods research that addresses the sociocultural, economic, and historical factors that impact our patients' relationship with healthcare.

What is your favorite thing to do in Providence and/or Rhode Island?

Going to the beach during the summer! There are several gorgeous beaches near Providence.

Where do you live?

I live in an apartment complex in Downtown Providence

One fun fact about you:

I moved to the US from Beirut, Lebanon for medical school in 2016, and I can make some *exquisite* shawarma.

One piece of advice for candidates:

Reach out to residents at programs you are really interested in! They will be the people best equipped to answer your questions and will give you a good idea about the culture of each program.
