Laurie Griffin, MD, PhD (She/Her)
Biography
Why did you choose Brown/WIH Ob/Gyn?
I knew I would get strong clinical training at many programs, so I focused on finding a place where myself and my family would be happiest. When I walked into Brown’s interview dinner, I was struck by the family atmosphere. Residents, significant others, and children were all so happy to be with each other. All the residents and significant others talked about how the residents work hard, but that everyone (residents and the program itself) really prioritize maximizing time with family and friends.
What are your interests within OB/GYN?
I love OB and really enjoy working with high acuity patients, so I’m leaning towards MFM.
What is your favorite thing to do in Providence or Rhode Island?
After being landlocked in the Midwest for the better part of a decade, we are so excited to spend time at the beach!
Where do you live?
Cranston- yard for our kiddo and pup to enjoy and quick commute to the hospital.
One fun fact about you
I love to travel. My life goal is to visit 100 countries and I’m just over a quarter of the way there.
One piece of advice for candidates
Go with you gut. At interviews, you will get a sense of the program and the people. If somewhere just feels right (or wrong), trust yourself and try not to overthink it.
