Katie Ellis, MD (She/Her)
Biography
Why did you choose WIH/Brown OB/GYN?
I fell in love with the people at WIH on my interview day! I knew residency would be a challenging time no matter where I was so I wanted to prioritize being surrounded by people I connected with and felt supported by and I am so glad I did. My co-residents have been incredibly welcoming, kind, and understanding and I am inspired by them every day.
What are your interests within OB/GYN?
I love so many aspects of OB/GYN that I am most likely going to be a generalist but if I do specialize it would probably be in MIGS or Family Planning. I am passionate about reproductive justice and preventative care. I am also interested in medically assisted treatment for opioid use disorder in pregnancy and am hoping to incorporate that interest into my practice.
What is your favorite thing to do in Providence and/or Rhode Island?
I love wandering around my neighborhood on the East Side, exploring different shops, restaurants and bars. The access to nearby beaches, cities and mountains is also incredible and I've been taking advantage of my weekends off and traveling to surrounding states.
Where do you live?
East Side in the Fox Point/College Hill area
One fun fact about you:
I have a son, George!
One piece of advice for candidates:
Stay in your lane! It is so easy to obsess about what people are doing around you but try and focus on yourself and trust your decisions.
