Biography

Why did you choose WIH/Brown OB/GYN?

I wanted to go to a program that had high volume surgery and obstetrics. I also wanted to join an academic center with strong fellowships in multiple fields of OBGYN. My wife and I also love the ocean, wanted to buy a house with a yard, and wanted to be near her parents-which is a tall order!

What are your interests within OB/GYN?

General interests: complex medical and surgical care, medical education, clinical research, reproductive justice, and equity for those assigned female at birth. Specialty interest: Oncology or MFM.

What is your favorite thing to do in Providence and/or Rhode Island?

Go for bike rides and runs along the water. Go for walks with my dog. Go swimming in the ocean. Get ice cream and explore restaurants. Sit in my backyard and hangout my wife, friends, and my dog.

Where do you live?

Warwick, close to Pawtucket village.

One fun fact about you:

My name is John, but I go by Jack and I was named after my great uncle John/Jack Walker Payne who use to fly his Cessna around the Grand Canyon.

One piece of advice for candidates:

Your hard work will pay off, you’ve almost made it. Be kind to yourself and trust in the process and the rest will come.
