Gabriela Weigel, MD (She/Her)
Biography
Why did you choose WIH/Brown OB/GYN?
On interview day, Brown OBGYN stood out to me as a supportive and welcoming community that I wanted to be a part of (even though zoom)! I felt confident I would get excellent training at Women and Infants (including in family planning which is very important to me), while learning and working with kind, inspiring people. I was also really excited by being taught and mentored by midwives, and so far during intern year that has been a highlight. Providence is also close by to my family which was a big draw, and I love living in a smaller city where I know my neighbors, but there is still an abundance of things to do (great art, food, beaches and outdoor activities).
What are your interests within OB/GYN?
Family planning, reproductive justice, health policy, gender affirming care, substance use disorders.
What is your favorite thing to do in Providence and/or Rhode Island?
Walking around Providence's different neighborhoods (they all have a different feel!) and finding cool antique shops, coffee shops, and good food. Exploring the many bike paths and beaches that surround Providence. And taking advantage of the vibrant art scene in the city!
Where do you live?
Mount Hope
One fun fact about you:
I'd love to make it to all the national parks in my lifetime - my favorites so far are Death Valley and Yosemite.
