OB/GYN Residency Program

Biography

Why did you choose WIH/Brown OB/GYN?

Brown is both unique and has everything I could hope for in a residency program. It is an academic powerhouse, and has high volume, but it is also not a huge program and is very connected to the community it serves. I was also very drawn to the midwife mentorship here, as well as the well-established avenues for advocacy being so close to the capitol in Providence! There are so many incredible faculty at Brown doing inspiring things, whether that is advocating for reproductive justice at the state house, or doing the work to provide gender affirming care in clinic, and I wanted to be a part of that. Last but certainly not least, I couples matched here with my partner, who is from Rhode Island originally, so being close to family in addition to everything else felt too good to be true!

What is your favorite thing to do in Providence and/or Rhode Island?

Going for bike rides on the east bay bike path! And stopping at one of the many cute coffee shops along the way.

Where do you live?

Fox point, right next to the east bay bike path!

Fun fact:

I biked across the country with seven of my classmates the summer after my first year of medical school!

One piece of advice for candidates:

I know this process is exhausting, but the best thing you can do for yourself in this journey is to let go of any expectations of how you should be and just be yourself. Only then will you find your people and find where you feel you belong most. Hopefully then, you will also feel some stress lift from your shoulders!
