Biography
Why did you choose WIH/Brown OB/GYN?
There’s a classic trope that Rhode Islanders never leave Rhode Island. And for good reason! After 6 years away, I returned to RI for medical school at Brown, and the familiarity of place, proximity to my family, and community pride kept me here for residency. Women and Infants Hospital (WIH) is where my siblings and I were born, where my grandmother received cancer treatment at the end of her life, and where I first translated my passion for reproductive health into patient care. Everyone at WIH contributes to the shared mission of delivering excellent, patient-centered care for women at all stages of the lifespan. As a medical student at Brown, I was immediately included in the team and supported by residents and faculty alike. I feel extremely fortunate to be able to train at WIH and provide care to the community I call home.
What is your favorite thing to do in Providence and/or Rhode Island?
The beach!!!! I love the access to public beaches everywhere in RI, but especially Barrington Beach, a 7-minute walk from the house I grew up in. There is nothing better than a lobster roll and a Del’s lemonade on the beach on a RI summer night.
Where do you live?
Barrington
Fun fact:
I was born at Women and Infants!
One piece of advice for candidates:
It’s not about making the right choice; it’s about making the choice RIGHT! It sounds silly, but I truly believe there is no perfect program. After belaboring the pros and cons of every program on my list, I realized that there was no one program that checked every possible box. The truth is, you would likely succeed and be happy in many settings. Feeling excited about the positive aspects of each program, without obsessing over cracking the code for the “perfect match” would have saved me a lot of time and anxiety!
